The on going battle. Both Herons and Egrets will always fight. The Great Blues are larger and dangerous. The Great Egrets come in flocks. Most fights are all noise, but not all.

The nests will be built anyway. This same tree, same branches, will have both species. But there will be loud fighting for a while.

Finally they wear each other down and a truce forms. However, the young are not to be alone until large enough to protect themselves.

They will argue in this same spot. What you don’t see yet is the Egret nest. Right now it’s a few twigs right under the Herons.
