A trip to the old Hampton Plantation, using the original creeks and marsh route is beautiful, and long. It makes you realize just how deep in the delta this plantation actually is.

The home is first seen as you reached the end of Hampton Creek. The creek winds through marsh and rice fields, finally the house can be seen through the trees. Very impressive!

This is what you find at the end of the trip. Amazing to be built around 1730. Using the local wood, Black Cypress, made the basic structure almost indestructible.

Love this
Thanks. This was the second time I did this. When going through the creeks and marshes you are in a place few people have seen in hundreds of years.
Very impressive as it comes into view! Fine photos.
Thanks. I agree and was waiting with my camera ready when we went down the last creek. The house is what we think plantations should look like 😁. Most of the ones still around have been repaired or rebuilt changing their look.
I always find those white colonial houses with veranda columns really beautiful.
The old ones, away from tourists are amazing. This house has a porch and rockers so you can sit among them. Since it’s away from the busy world no one bothers you. Many notable people have sat there, with the same thoughts. Our first president, Washington sat here, many people active in the revolution away from England. Finally our poet laureate lived here and gave the land to the state to create a quote and remote public place.
Oh, and I had a ham sandwich here a few years ago, sitting in a rocking chair enjoying the view. 😂
