The young Wood Ducks have been around now for a few weeks and yes we have lost quite a few, but the females have been taking in orphans. Also the family groups have been traveling together, safety in numbers.

Young ones are venturing off exploring, but zoom back when something scares them. Thats another good sign, getting smarter.

Male Wood Ducks are not around. They tend to stay as part of the family groups.

Today I saw my first Mallard in a long time. Wood Ducks are the most common in the swamps here.
💚🍃💚🍃🙌🏼🤩
And the young ones disappeared because of predators, storms or other reasons. I hate assuming, Ted.
Alligators and turtles….
I love my nesting pairs but everyone eats the babies 🙁
