Green Herons are considered to be one of the smartest of birds. Very successful on a hunt, some use bait for fish, basically smart.

And yet, they seem to prefer building nests a little too low,  in thickets that hide danger, here they make bad decisions.

This bird was near some taller grasses, a few feet away, that had multiple nests. Not a good place to build a home…
