Young Great Egrets

Young Great Egrets

This photograph didn’t come out as I expected. I grabbed the shot because there was an opening in the tree branches showing a spot where multiple Egrets have nested. Egrets build their nests in tight groups. So close together they can get confused over which nest is theirs when landing.

The scene here is two nests built fairly close, with chicks of different ages. The further chicks are being fed by an adult. The closer chicks are completely ignoring the birds right behind them.

I think it’s an interesting and different view. One I didn’t expect, but like. Best viewed large
