Last time I was at this particular rookery, 2 weeks ago, this was one of the Great Egret chicks wobbling around and making odd noises.

I watched this young bird figure out how to climb down the branches to reach the water below. In his mind he was going fishing 😆.

Once he got there, there was a little confusion. He didn’t know how to fish. He did study the situation for a while though. I think he finally got a little hungry and climbed his way back up.
