Most of the birds were Blue-winged Teals, a few might have been Black Ducks.

The grass erupted with maybe 200 birds. The Eagle was not even all that close either. But I’ve seen this before. They take no chances.

The last few weeks I have made a point of using a second camera with a short lens as well as pulling the long lens back. It’s nice to see details, some animals up close, but the environment is a big part of the story for me.

These photographs are one of the larger flocks of White Pelicans that are moving around the marshes.

The big groups seem to break up into smaller ones, move off, and then join up when they come back doen.

A typical single flock lately has been around 75 birds each.
