No Walking On That Dike Today, Alligator

A few of the big locals took over the dike here. While there is tall grass on either side of the top, from this angle (on a second dike) you can see the side has been worn down to the dirt.

This is an Alligator trail, or highway. Besides sleeping in the sun on the top, they climb up and over here. The other side is canals and marshes too.

All along the open water the walls of the dike are a gathering spot. Above shows another Alligator trail going up, with the obvious Alligators and also a small group of Vultures.

You can find us walking up there at times too. I prefer this trail when the grasses and reeds are not so tall. It’s easy to meet up with locals, and it’s no big deal. I just like to know where they are.
