We were photographing this flock of Spoonbills when a surprise showed up. The tail of an Alligator sleeping near was obvious, but not this ‘big guy’.

Suddenly he stood up in the reeds and slowly moved to the water. I never noticed him.

We have had warm, even hot, days recently. The huge ones are getting active, and hungry. Not a time for the Spoonbills to be ignoring them.

I never can tell exactly how big these Alligators are unless standing close by. Him, I will be keeping my distance so I’ll just say he was ‘Huge’, ‘Pickup Truck Size Huge’.
