At the age when they are curious about everything. This Owlet is ‘almost’ flying, though I do know someone has seen him down cooling off in the swamp water.
These Owls learn to fly by moving from tree to tree. Slowly the distance between trees increases until they find themselves flying.
This young bird is still being fed by adults, a Crayfish shell is by his foot in the image above.
When we photographed him the other day he sat above us watching how the silly ‘things’ below kept looking up with their one big eye (camera lens). I think he finally fell asleep. Most likely got bored.
