Slow and steady he moved along. So slow you can see how the light changed while taking this series. Total distance moved was maybe 20 yards (18 meters)

The Alligator started the move above. While it was close to the end of the day there was plenty of light when I took the first shot.

Now I took the second image. A few minutes later, closer, and floating in to the bank.

Above is the same spot, notice the light has faded, he is still waiting near us.

Above is the last, and he has now turned towards us and made another move to the waters edge. Top of the image you can see the same sun shine, but just ahead of his snout the green vegetation is being pushed ahead.
These were taken while I was standing by a swamp talking with a friend. The first few photos I took of the gator were just absent photographs. In a few minutes I noticed him and the light changing.
He was so slow and deliberate I kept watching and shooting. What he wanted was to get on a dry spot on the waters edge.
