As I go through the Heron photographs taken lately there are more Green Heron than any other type. That is not normal.

These two Herons were captured just outside Charleston. The rivers are bordered by marshlands. A perfect environment for smaller wading birds.

I also photographed a large number of Green Heron in the ACE Basin area. The Basin is the lowlands that run along a series of rivers, and the Atlantic Ocean. It’s South Carolina low land so again big marshes and swamps.
Over all the number of Green Heron is spread over the region, not just a small geographic area. This is good news considering the loose of habitat and rising temperatures.
