A Marsh Scene, Outside Charleston

A Marsh Scene, Outside Charleston

A spot I have looked at a hundred times yet never did I take a photograph.

For some reason today was the day it struck me. Best viewed large.

A serene image I think, but there are many things to see here.

The obvious is the Great Egret on the far bank. This is a corner of an old plantation rice field, long gone back to a marsh.

On the left shore stands a Tricolored Heron, waiting for the water to rise. The palms mixed in the tree line just gives this a warm look.

Old wooden ramps are still in the water. Had the water been high I’m sure an Alligator would have been sunning on at least one.

Besides being a peaceful scene, a little bit of the old southern marsh is nicely on display.

Glad I took the shot.

  1. The scenery out there is just tremendous. Some flat and pale green, but even then beautiful. A long lens usually doesn’t do justice to the landscape and I changing a lens in a swamp or humid marsh is not always safe.

This one came out nice though, even with a long lens. Thanks
