Winter in the swamps still has a few plants that are flourishing, Duck Weed is one. Given the name it’s no surprise who eats it.

It’s a staple in the diet of Teals, both the blue and green winged variety.

I had never seen a Teal until we moved to the Lowcountry. The Blue Winged Teals are everywhere. The old Mallard… public parks.

My theory is that makes a Mallard smarter. Alligators don’t hang around public parks.
