They sit as high up as possible, when they actually sit.

Like the Swallow-tailed Kite they hunt / eat while in flight.

Mississippi Kites have expanded their range moving further north and even west during the summers in the US. It is still a tropical bird and come fall they follow the heat and insects down to South America.

Both shots here were from a distance but I still took the photographs. I don’t think I have ever caught one not in motion.
