Old cemeteries along the rivers/marsh in Charleston are filled with animals. Since water is everywhere wading birds of all kinds are found.
Below is a smaller one, the Green Heron. Not far on the bank was the biggest, a Wood Stork.

My favorite heron. The other herons are big, which for most people, is what makes them impressive. Take away their size, and they are nothing compared to the Green Heron.
They will also use a stick, or other small enticement to lure fish in close. 😁😁
I missed the opportunity in the autumn to photograph a Green Heron that visited us unexpectedly. That is an amazing photograph of the Heron!
