Out the other day we were able to follow ‘white spots’ and get close enough for a few Pelican shots.
Not the best day, actually almost nasty, but no heavy rain.
Getting close to mating season and this is not where they breed. I don’t think there will be many more easy to photograph flocks this year.

Most of the maps are old but from what I know the breed in the mid- northern US and in southern Canada mid Provinces. But in theory they never come to the Lowcountry and yet they spend the winter here.

Love these guys! I’m hoping I might see some on a trip up to Merritt island this week. This is usually a good time to spot large numbers of them.
Should still be there. I know they are still around the Everglades. Heading north soon though.
