This morning the Washington Post had photographs and an interesting article on Spoonbills.
This year a number of them have been around Virginia, NY, maybe Maine. Every year some youngsters go off seeking fame.

This one has stayed home. Photos taken 7/25/2021.

He is older than the adventurer seekers too.
We definitely have had as many as three Roseate Spoonbills seen at Huntley Meadows Park here in Alexandria VA, one of the places mentioned in the Washington Post article. I have been avoiding the park for quite some time because it tends to be overcrowded and it has gotten worse, I have been told, with the arrival of the visitors from the South.
They draw a crowd, and that’s what will also send them on their way. The photo I saw was a young bird, maybe early this year.
There was one initially and then a couple more arrived. At least one of them relocated to a lake a few miles away.
