This Great Egret found an opening and moved right in.

Like the Great Blues they have several layers of wing feathers. When they spread wings wide like these it makes for a great show.

If you look close you can see the slight green coloring right in front of his eye. That’s the ‘lore’ and turns bright green during mating season. When you see green you know it’s a breeding adult this spring.
