A combination of good sun light and great backgrounds are the common theme here. A few well placed Herons didn’t hurt.
Below two Great Blues in the classic pose. The first in a swamp, then over a marsh. Both photographs are typical Lowcountry environments.


Below a juvenile Night Heron. Tall grass, reeds, and cane are still standing upright. Soon they will lay flat as the new shoots begin.

Last a Great Blue over a swamp. Taken as the sun came down low, and pretty much blinded both of us.
