Last week we walked a trail running along side a large rice field. The corner edges of these fields have high dike walls keeping the old fresh water fields separate from the salt marshes. There’s always a good chance something is tucked into these corners.
This time it was a large adult Great Blue Heron.

I took a few shots trying to catch reflections, then moved on.

Coming back a while later the only change was the big guy facing in a different direction. Probably keeping ‘half an eye’ on the interlopers going by.
