When we first arrived at the big marsh I don’t think I saw many of the big guys. Maybe I was focused on the flocks of birds, yet I’m always looking for them.
Anyway, at some point walking down a dike I realized they were all around.
Below a small Yellow-leg was fishing just a few feet from one, and the gator was wide awake. I don’t think he was hungry. Low water means fish are trapped and easy to catch. This big guy probably won’t eat for a week.

BTW, Alligators don’t eat very much. They may be big but being cold blooded their metabolism is very slow. That comment of once a week is pretty accurate.
