A quick snap shot taken as two Great Egrets worked together on this nest.
I think Great Egrets are even worse than Herons when it comes to construction skills. Both create flimsy nests too small for their young. I’m never surprised when young fall from a nest.

Nice photo of team work! They must lose young given their poor nest construction. Do they have more than one brood a season?
This is as much team work as they do. They are ‘different’. 😁. Herons actually seem excited when their mate returns to the nest. Egrets are like it’s the first time they met 😂😂
Egrets also go to the wrong nest pretty often LOL. Pretty and not nice is my best description…real predator.
Only one brood and do lose young, falling, siblings fighting, starvation if there are too many chicks. Herons act the same way though.
In general nature is messy 😳
They are not as they appear. Looks can be deceiving 😏
