Several birds may land in the same rookery tree, the Great Blue will recognize their mate immediately.

As the returning bird gets closer you can see each birds reaction.

I find this interesting because I see this same scene with the Great Egrets that nest here. Many also greet their mate, but others look like they should be introduced to each other.
