Before writing this I thought to do a little research on the Cattle Egret. This is one of the few Egret/Heron I don’t see all that often. They prefer dry open fields for feeding, something the Lowcountry isn’t known for.
It turns out these are an amazing and resourceful bird. Originally an Asian tropical resident they have expanded their range to almost everywhere, naturally without human intervention. They even flew across the Atlantic Ocean to get a hold on North America. They are now the most numerous heron in the world.

I have only seen these amazing birds twice in the past few years hanging around cows but I have never seen them in flight and in such a beautiful setting as in the second photo.

Thank you 😁. I only see them about the time they are breeding. They nest in swamps like other Egrets.
