There are places in the old cemeteries that don’t receive many visitors, or get much attention. The grave sites are from the mid 1800’s, many US Civil War era.
Both head stones below were found in over grown tall grass near the salt marshes.
Literally ‘found on a walk’.

So poignant. They say that when the last person who ever knew you dies you are completely forgotten…unless of course you are famous. But no one knows who they are, just names carved on a piece of stone in a field somewhere
I know. I think taking images helps a little, keeps history alive too
My Dad died in the early 60s…I have 2 photos of him, dog eater and be. I don’t remember him much…more photos and videos would be so much better
Always saddens me when I see stones not given the attention they deserve.
Here we have old cemeteries that were once to be maintained, but things like civil wars, yellow fever, etc. changed all that. They are very different from what we had up north.
