A few days ago we went out to the large marshes late morning. It’s an odd time to go shoot since the light is getting harsh, birds have finished feeding, and the temperature is starting to climb. However, there are times we have no plan and just get up and go.

As expected a pretty quiet time. Until the big guys started to move around in the channels. Tide was low making the salt marsh area an easy place for the locals to gather.

I had been shooting a few in another open spot, turned and found the Alligator below joining a few others in a pool.

Big gators are not very graceful on land, but they are impressive.

I’m not sure how many were close enough for some good shots, enough to make a few interesting series though.

We wandered a bit, took these, had an Italian sub watching Spoonbills, and came home. It turned out to be a good day.
