I recognized the seed pod, but not any details of the tree. They planted these trees along the streets of NYC. When dry the pods are soft and fuzzy, perfect for putting down the back of a young friend’s shirt. Even NYC kids do country things once in a while.

American Sycamore prefer the wet/damp near flood plains. The edge of southern swamps must be perfect because the ones in this photo are healthy, tall, and run alongside a good sized swamp pond.

The tree can easily live for 200+ years and grow 140 feet tall. Sounds like a big tree to me.

The hanging seed pods were the main attraction. As usual Ellen spotted the photographic potential.

Note to self; The 3 step focus limiter on the OM 100-400 mk2 actually does limit the range availability. More than my other lens and does help when working with a close subject. It also should be set back when you are done. I missed a few good opportunities before ‘the light went on’ and I checked my lens settings.
