While out walking the old cemetery section the red rusty iron work caught mt attention, as always 😆.
I swapped out my lens for the ‘bargain basement plastic fantastic’ Olympus 40-150. This is the lens that seems to confirm there aren’t really any bad lens anymore. I’m pretty sure everything except the lens glass is plastic. It’s the same size as a candy bar, and might weigh about the same too. Cost was $60.00  US. LOL

Fun photographs at old Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston.
I have heard good things about that lens. I have the Pro but it is heavy and cumbersome. I don’t think the image quality is much better either. The main difference is that the Pro is weather sealed – which is good for me as I tend to be out in all weathers, and it means that I don’t have to keep taking it out and putting back in the bag. The other downside is the cost. It was about £1400 or thereabouts….
The image quality on the old cheapo R version is not great, the crazy contrasts are.
Nice, shooting with a Coolpix I know what you mean by weight. Not like those with the 3′ long lens but heavy when I shoot the moon 🙂
I’m too old for backpacking gear. Now I’m very careful with what I use.
Yes mine is carried around my neck and I set it at shoulder height for moon shots the rest are always hand held shots at 69 I do not want to crash with it in my hand for sure.
Nice! But it’s really all about who’s taking the photos 😊
Ahhhhh 😊😊. Thank you
Guessing sometimes you are going more for mood that pristine sharpness and exquisite excellence. I own the 40-150 Pro, a number of pro zooms plus a number of 1.8 primes all of which I still use for work and just having fun photographing for myself. One can pack what one wants to take on what outings and it’s all good. In the film days I shot with a plastic camera (Holga’s) using film. and picked up some Holga lenses for my Canon’s when shooting them. One never knew exactly what the results might be, but the results were always wonderful, and surprising.
That old lens was likely for an early Pen F camera. Never bought a lens like this but I had a ‘gap’ and the cost was not much more than a Happy Meal 😂😂. I started shooting in the late 60’s. I’m now at the point where the photos are the story, and realize the great images over the years had nothing to do with pixel peeping 😆😆. And it’s fun again !!!
