I love when they all climb on a downed tree here and take a break to sun themselves. My wood turtles make the trip up from the river,60 yards from up here at the house, to hang out with me. I love when Brady comes across one he sniffs then dance to tell me they are here.
As far as I can tell these Sliders are the only type we have. Just a bit inland there are many different ones, just not in the swamps..
We have a few and the ones here at my place mostly on the protected list.
They will have to make room for the ‘gators soon enough.
