Found On A Walk, Old Charleston House

When we visit the old buildings around town I tend to shoot a little bit of everything. Mostly whatever catches my attention. Ellen has ‘the eye’ and sees things I don’t. I probably compensate for this by always using a zoom lens, never a prime, and photographing details as well as the wide shots of the interiors.

This day I used an OM 12-100 f4. There’s not much light in this house however both the lens and camera have image stabilization and they sync.

  1. I still remember that period when I was using Fujifilm. All the “serious” X-T bodies lacked in-body stabilisation; IBIS only arrived with, and after, the X-H1. Back then, Fujifilm lenses with an f/4 aperture were almost hated on forums – and there were quite a few of them.

For us OM System users, light sensitivity isn’t really the first thing we look at anymore. Portability and compactness matter far more, and that’s a complete shift in thinking. Just yesterday I watched a YouTube video by MFN where she managed a six-second exposure with an OM System OM-3 using a non-stabilised lens. Sometimes I genuinely wonder how other brands still manage to sell cameras 🙂

    1. I think I saw the saw video last night. Emily is a very impressive lady. I agree on the OM/MFT gear. OM being the smallest I hope they survive the world economy.

That being said, I do find when shooting low light it’s best to always take 3 shots. Most always the middle one is the keeper. I do the same with shooting high speed multi shots. The middle is best. I think it’s me since I did that with Canon too LOL. Old photog.

Last, your comment on light is spot on. No one mentions ISO any more. I have at least 4 De-Noise options. When I shoot the historical locations I need them too. I mostly use an old Topaz Denoise standalone program. Works great.

Last again… As you see we purchased the 12-100. However, and I still don’t know why, I’m waiting on an Olympus Pancake, the EZ. I may need an intervention LOL
