Both me and the Egret.
We have developed a routine when shooting around the Port Royal wetlands. We shoot the Night Heron swamp first then the open islands with the large concentration of birds. Both heat and sun need to be considered.
The last stop, after eating which is really convenient here, is the covered corners of the pond. Trees are dense so little direct sun. Also the adult birds are doing the same thing.

This Great Egret flew in, had a drink, and finally just stood there. It’s quiet here and we all were taking a break from the chaos of a rookery.
