Gibbs Angels

Gibbs Angels

Angels are among the Spanish Moss and Live Oaks in the oldest section of the Magnolia Cemetery outside Charleston.

An old family mausoleum, built of marble and covered by a hill side of trees is guarded by Angel statues. They were carved in the mid 1800’s and imported specifically for this mausoleum. Considering the US Civil War had just ended and half of Charleston was still ruins this was a little extravagant.

However, this is beautiful, and photogenic, spot. When the light is right I’ll grab a few more photos.
