Barred Owl Hunting Over A Swamp
This Owl can sit there and be invisible. Below is a small pond/swamp that is a favorite hunting spot.
Even knowing there was a good chance he was there, I almost missed him.
It seems like they always hide on the dark side of the trees too.

He was focused on more important things. I never did see what it was though.
He dropped down to the water behind a Cypress Tree, grabbed something, and was gone.

Barred Owl, Swamp
This photograph was part of a series taken a few months ago. I managed to catch the Owl in the shallow water. Bullfrogs and Crayfish are abundant here.
I came across this image in the ‘to do’ and used a filter to lighten the photos top half. It was dark under the heavy leaf canopy.
Barred Owls have been nesting in the area for a few years now. On this day there were 2 moving around the cypress trees.
