100% humidity, and it wasn’t raining.
Taken from a dirt road that runs along a swamp. This was in a section of open water. The sun was burning right down on the water.
Nothing to see but him and a dead tree.

Periodically I will make a point of shooting a large number of Alligator images. Not that I pass many interesting ones up, but I usually don’t go looking for them.
It can be fun though to make a point of grabbing as many Alligator shots as possible…especially when it’s slow for everything else.
This one was baking himself in sun, mouth open to catch his breath.
Too lazy to climb up the boards and get out of the water.
I had forgotten about this old wooden ramp on the far side of the rookery. The big guy was able to get away from all the noise on the other side.
This one climbed up a big ramp and almost went too far. Finally just hung on the side and got some sun.
Last here is a smaller Alligator keeping safe in the dead trees and duck weed. Just because he’s an Alligator doesn’t mean something out there won’t try to eat him too. BTW, while finishing this I noticed a big Dragonfly top right. I confuse some with Hummingbirds this time of year. They grow big.
So there, a ‘bunch o gators’.
Walking by and couldn’t help myself.
An epic battle but I’m not sure who won. The Alligator or the big tail feather.
And yes, he did fight with it. Chewed it, did the Alligator roll and dive, and then… he swam right over as if we wanted to take it away. This is one of those ‘you can’t make this stuff up’ moments.
There are a larger number of photographs than usual so they are in a gallery. Who can resist and Alligator, feather fight.
Click, or double tap, and image to view the gallery.
It’s hard to tell, but sometimes I swear they are just staring right back as they lay around.
Using a rock as a pillow? if that’s all there is I guess, but really.
This is another of those shots where an Alligator nonchalantly swims back and forth in front of me. Watching, but trying to be cool about it.
The first time he finds I’m gone he climbs out and takes my spot on the bank. It’s prime territory.
Probably rain is not even recognized when it’s happening, or even existing for that matter.
Above, he planned on climbing on this bank to get out of the water. Again…rain peobably doesn’t exist in his world.
However, with luck it will wash off some of his ‘flotsam’.
