Charleston has a long history with pirates, and pirate tales of course.
The town jail had cells for pirates, and a place to…you know.
The town was attacked by the famous pirate Black Beard. Well, I think he really sat with his ship in the harbor and blackmailed the merchants into paying.

And here we have the famous courtyard where terms of payment were made, pirates came here when in the harbor, and other forms of wicked pirate stuff was done.
Now it’s a house not a tavern, with a famous backyard, and tons of tourist peeking down the alley.
That’s the story and they’re sticking to it.
I’ve got Charleston on my list to visit… I just seem to pick places, and then they get hit with a hurricane. Maybe next winter… 😊
When you do make it be sure to take your time and just stroll around town.
