These cabins are just behind a swamp near us. They are part of a plantation and maintained as an educational site. This entire area was once all large rice plantations up until the US Civil War.

People continued to live here, and other cabins, for many years after the war. Many of the large buildings were burned in the war but the land was farmed, mined, or logged for another hundred years.
