As the birds move out of the swamps and rookeries many move out to marsh lands to feed for the summer. When the find an area with low water it’s like the word gets out.
It’s been busy in places so I wanted to start this part of the season with some ‘drama’, critter style.

Thanks. In fairness action was everywhere. It’s the time of year when, if lucky, we find a marsh running low. I had been out in a swamp in the morning when another photographer ‘messaged’ us what they had found.
There are hundreds of thousands acres so a few of us will share what we find / don’t find. It’s just a couple people so we don’t overwhelm animals, and some make a living this way, but without that we would miss even more than we do.
The all-birds photo even has skimmers.. it seems amazing to me that you’ve managed to capture a whole bunch of waders AND the skimmers in the same photo!
A few hundred Laughing Gulls were there too. When we find these ‘gatherings’ it is like watching an old documentary, or movie from my childhood. Except I’m doing the photos!!! Just plain magic.
I noticed the Laughing Gulls in some of your photos. They’re the most handsome gulls I’ve ever seen and they look such characters. I’d never heard of them until finding yours and others photos on WP.
And they sound like laughing 😂😂
