Rose Hill Plantation located in Union County, South Carolina.

The home of William Henry Gist (August 22, 1807 – September 30, 1874) the 68th Governor of South Carolina from 1858 to 1860 and a leader of the secession movement in South Carolina. He was one of the signers of the Ordinance of Secession on December 20, 1860, which effectively launched the Confederacy and ultimately the US Civil War.

The plantation survived the Civil War because the rivers were flooded at the time the Union Army came through under General Sherman.

Just figured out that you’re not in FLA. 🙂
😄, Charleston, South Carolina. But not all that far. Lived in CT. For years and it still surprises me I’m closer to Havana than Hartford 😂😂
