Known to be one of the classic fails in the auto industry. It was only made for two years.

There aren’t many around but when I have seen them they look like great cars for the time. Still they discontinued the model almost immediately.

After shooting this car I finally dug around to find out why it was so horrible. Turns out it wasn’t. Ford was, not the car.

An Edsel was really no different, except for that famous front grill, than any other car offered. Nice new features yes but nothing exceptional, priced not as a luxury car or a family car.

Ford did no market research, only a handful of Ford dealers offered the car, 10% of the dealers wanted to sell Edsel.

The economy was never considered for the release of a new brand either. The end of 1957 saw the start of a recession.

However, if you compare this car to other models of the time for a few hundred dollars more a person could get a ‘semi’ luxury Edsel.

I'm not a car person, at all. Yet I have always thought these were interesting.
