This spot doesn’t usually get much traffic. Birds, people, or otherwise. In the past it’s been Alligators and ducks. Now plenty of wading birds.

There is private property behind here, the Ashley River on another side, finally marsh dikes all around. The bigger birds feel safe back here. I make a point of saying ‘bigger’ birds because this is Eagle land too. But they want the ducks.

The pond side of this marsh is about 2 miles out, once you get here it’s best to stay for a while. Short days now mean this is a destination, it will be dark when we get back to the main plantation land.

These are a few random photographs from the other afternoon. Here the subjects were all Egrets.
There were various Herons, Wood Storks, and Spoonbills around too. I still need to sort through and delete many images. Scenes like this make me ‘hold the button down’ way too long.
