I was standing on the edge of this swamp looking around, I think trying to find a particular subject to photograph. When things get a little ‘busy’ it’s too easy to just start shooting away and ending with nothing. I’ve done that way too many times.
This time I pulled the lens back wider and grabbed a few random images of all the activity right in front of me. No special subject, just a look around.
Above you can see in the far left a spindly Cypress with a Great Blue nest up top, Egrets displaying on the branches below. There is plenty of flying around, a Great Egret sitting and paying no attention to the circus here.
Next the flights come in closer and pass by.
The final shot is two Great Egrets resting, one beginning a mating display. What you don’t see is the trees above this group. There are at least seven Great Blue nests, maybe fifteen Egret, and an unknown number of Anhinga.
Chaos is an understatement at times.
