A Great Blue Heron as she decided to leave the nest.
These were taken at a distance from the nest. I also didn’t even attempt to shoot this at the long end. I wanted the scene itself as much as the bird taking flight. While I could be closer the contour of the swamp would place me behind the bird, and Cypress Trees.
First shot is the tell, I missed the bent knees however did catch her leaning in and opening her wings.

Next she pushed her wings to get the lift.

Finally the moment she took flight.

Where are the next flight shots. Logical thought, well they were shot too slow. Dull light gets the colors, and needs slow shutter speed to catch it.
It’s wildlife, I’ll take what I can get.
They’re large birds, yet *so* incredibly graceful!
I find them particularly interesting. Strangely affectionate towards their mate at this time of year. Some of the other big wading birds have a mate, but I feel like they need to introduced to each other whenever they return to a nesting tree 🥹.
