Recently we had a bitter cold spell, and even snow. The snow and ice stayed around for a few days too.
This Great Blue Heron stayed on/around her nest. Now she can get warm again.
Unfortunately this looks to be a poor year for Heron nesting. Some even abandoned their nest. One nest was dismantled by other birds finding an easy place to get needed sticks.
I hope the Great Egret season is better.

Yes, how much remains to be seen. Several nests were abandoned during the storm and cold. One was completely gone yesterday. Turns out the other Herons stole all the sticks for their own building. However just an hour ago one almost ran me over flying by in a big hurry to rebuild the same spot. So, we shall see but it was very busy this afternoon.
I sure hope things work out.
