Don’t you want to do this just once !

This is also another ‘Found On A Walk’ type article. Here a case of one old find leads to another.
We stopped after crossing a railroad track that had old buildings lined along what might have been a RR stop years ago. I grabbed shots with no real plan. Looking a little deeper this small random stop had a few hidden interests.
The first photograph turned out to be an old Troy SC jail. Besides the fence to keep people away there were other warnings, even the names of people who were caught here. Who does that !

Below was the scene that lead us to just stop after driving down this road.
What we also had was an old corn mill, with a tractor on blocks. This was probably used to power the corn grinder inside the building.
These photographs were taken as we drove along exploring back roads on the South Carolina side of the Savannah River.
There is no shortage of scenes for me to photograph for this series.
Even in towns where the town center stores look to be doing well a walk down side streets is usually like this.
All these photographs taken with my walk around lens, Tamron 18-400mm. While I continue to carry a few primes, the versatility can’t be beat.
A new town here, in a new part of my adopted state South Carolina. There’s a Main Street long past it’s prime here too.
When I started this project in 2016 I lived in one of the wealthiest northern states. There were plenty of subjects there too. The decline of Main Street USA doesn’t play favorites.
We recently spent a few days exploring out in the western side of South Carolina. We stayed in a cabin near the Georgia border, along the Savannah River. This was an area we had never traveled, unfortunately we had some wet weather.
While we were in a car most times I’ll still lump this into my ‘Found On A Walk’ theme. We do get out and walk about after we find interesting spots. 😊
As with many towns lots of places have come and gone. The E. C. Rice ghost sign does live on.
The porch above contains a real treasure. Left side has an old washing machine with a hand wringer.
At some time several types of business were on this cross road. A fast but interesting stop.
Near Long Cane (Troy) , South Carolina.
Follow the tracks and you will find a Main Street. North or south, it doesn’t matter.
There was a time the railroad was the reason the town existed. Now most of the ones I know just hold up traffic as they pass through.
McCormick, South Carolina.
