Egret, A Softer Look

A large number of Great Egret scenes came to the top of the list today. After plowing through them, finishing some, and publishing some, I moved on for a while.

This image came up in another group but ultimately came out in a softer, rather than natural, look.

The light seemed good for this style so I kept it.

Black-crowned, Close Pass

This was a ‘sooner or later’ photograph. The rookery was on my left, the thickets on my right.

I knew his path to get sticks, I knew where he would get those sticks.

I just didn’t know when he would zoom past me.

This flight he came past us much closer than the others. I caught this, and of course missed plenty of the easier ones a little further away.

Another Chase, Great Blue Herons

It was one chase after another in the marsh. They did take breaks, caught a few fish, but most of the time it was a chase.

It even looked like they took turns on who was the chaser, and who was the chased.

It was hot and hazy shooting, but great fun.

Egret, I Can’t Resist Them

We have a running joke among local wildlife photographers.

  • Person 1 : ‘Don’t You Have Enough White Birds’
  • Person 2 : ‘But I don’t have one like this’

Of course both of their camera shutters are firing away.
