Circular Church 1681, Monochrome Monday
The Circular Congregational Church was established in 1681. It was a meeting house for non-Anglican Church members.
This was also known as a house of ‘the dissenters’.

St. Michael’s, Monochrome Monday
In a town filled with hundreds of old churches St. Michael’s Anglican Church stands out.
It has been damaged by hurricanes, Civil War, and even huge earthquakes. The building has always been repaired and kept to it’s original 1681 design.
Walking past the other day we stopped in for a few quick photographs. I have a monochrome custom setting on my first OM-1 that works perfect when wandering around town.

Umbra Plantation House, Monochrome Monday
The old plantation house was built in 1809, finally in 1850 this is what the house had become. Just last year, 2024, major repairs were made. Today the administration of Magnolia Cemetery and Soldiers Ground military cemetery is housed here.
In 1850 almost 100 acres of the plantation were transferred to a cemetery company, another unknown amount of land was added to be ‘the soldiers ground’ approximately 1862 to bury the increasing number of Charleston Confederate States troops killed during the US Civil War.
