There are 3 in this pile. At this age the young birds preen, poke each other, and fall over on their side. Not much else.

I’m Not Sure What The Heron Was Thinking, Egret
Great Blue Herons don’t like to get close to Egrets.
The size of the Heron here hides the fact it is still a Juvenile. He was probably not happy to have this Egret land so close (even if the Egret nest is right there).
The Heron is probably big enough now to handle an aggressive Egret, he may not know that yet.
Personal Taste Photograph
I think this could be a nice image to hang, maybe finished on metal or acrylic. If I were to hang this it would need to be a very big print.
Now, if I’m wrong this would be a big, metal, shining, bright yellow mistake, staring down off the wall.
Some Days Are All About The Alligators
The thing about shooting in the Lowcountry is that even on a slow day there’s an Alligator somewhere.
Some days there is an Alligator everywhere.
When you have the right spot it can be best not to shoot with a long lens. Getting wider images allows you to get a few Alligators in the same shot. There were at least 4 in the above photograph.
The shot above was all about the big guy along the bank, until the other 2 photo bombed it.
Here you can see how narrow this canal was. Both sides of the bank are visible. I took the one below a short time after since neither of us had any particular place to go. He had to swim by, I had to wait for him to go. No rush.
The last few images were captured as we walked along a dike. These Alligators were all semi-hiding and doing absolutely nothing.
So, this day I didn’t get any decent landscapes or dramatic bird images. The best I could get were a bunch of 700 pound lizards.
Almost Ran Us Over, Egret
OK, slight exaggeration. However, you can see this was close. The angle of the bird taking off didn’t allow for a full body shot.
Prothonatary Warbler Catching Insects
A little bird can’t get much prettier than these.
Ellen (PassingByPhoto) found this bird first and had a much better position. Her images are spectacular.
Curious Owlet
Young Barred Owl, just learning to fly. And curious about that thing down below staring up at him.
I had not planned on publishing this, but while not great it is a fledgling Owl staring down at the human thing.
Two minutes later we were both getting soaked in the rain and scrambling to find a dry spot.
Flower, Charleston
A higher f stop, or true macro lens would have been better.
