Bobcat Up A Tree

This was part of our new equipment tests. Though not at all what we started out to do.

Charles Towne Landing is the site of the original city of Charleston. The location itself was one of those ‘What Where We Thinking’ times and everyone moved before the swamp critters and disease got all of them.

This Bobcat is in the section where a few native animals are kept. This cat has a large section and found a tree top where (almost) no one is around.

Taken with a Canon mount Tamron 18-400 mm lens. This series of tests I was happy with.

Taken in a swamp on our first true cold day. I try to always ID any animals photographed when publishing something, but can’t here.

The male on the left almost looks like a Green-winged Teal, or maybe a Wigeon. Unless an Alligator pulled up they were staying hunkered down.

There was a small canal between us so the bird was comfortable enough to go about his business.

I did apply a little matte finish here since everything was a dull brown. Pretty much a little yellow tone.

For me this is a surprising shot of a Gallinule. There’s clear open water and the light didn’t hide any of the dark colors.

If you have never seen one of these birds close click the image above. Facial features and coloration is about as good as you can get out in the wild.

This juvenile Little Blue almost turned himself inside out trying fluff up his feathers.

This is a young bird that appears to have never left the rookery area. Granted they all look alike, but there is a first year Little Blue always in the same general area.
