I had been following Storks and knew my shots needed some help… my monopod because things were getting heavy, light fading.
I left the dike and walked back to the car and retrieved it.
This is what I returned to.

The first of a group of Spoonbill coming to join the Storks. Someone on the far side of this marsh (my wife ?) spooked a few and we both arrived back with the Storks at the same time.

Timing is everything.
Spoonbills joined the flock, I had a monopod to help shoot a little slower when needed.
note; the first images give you a glimpse at how large these marshes are. I looked around and this area is approximately 50% of the city limits of Washington DC. That’s big!
